I am a big believer in the benefits of Personal Training in improving and developing fitness and life quality levels of those of all ages, especially the over 50’s. But it has to be the right kind of training, with the trainer taking into account the history, capabilities and aspirations of the client. This is even more the case with those over 50, who may not have a recent record of fitness or may need exceptional levels of attention from the Trainer in order to remain motivated, to stick to the recommendations and therefore make progress over time.
But I’m not able to be everywhere at all times, so I have created a list of Personal Trainers country-wide that have been approved by me on behalf of Fitness Over Fifty Ltd., and I trust each of these Trainers to deliver the same quality of training and professional service that I strive to provide.
As a very minimum, each Personal Trainer has the REPS Level 3 qualification (or equivalent), full insurance, and a successful track record of clients – including those aged over 50.
More than this, every individual here has shown me they have the care and consideration to ‘go the extra mile’ to achieve client success, taking whatever extra effort is needed to ensure that their clients have positive, useful and enjoyable sessions with their trainer which enables the trainer to help the clients progress towards their goals.
Please contact any that has a training location convenient to you to discuss your own individual training support requirements.
Rory Aitken – Totnes
I’ve been a competitive sport fanatic since my teens, including IronMan. Opening The Fitness Factory in 2005 was a natural progression for me and I have trained hundreds of people from 16 to 76, with the majority over 45. Whatever your fitness, health, or weight objectives may be, I will design a programme to help you achieve them, and to really love and enjoy your body again!
Ian Brett – Cambridgeshire
I have a holistic approach to health and fitness. I am passionate about achieving results for my clients, and have recently had great successes with clients in the ‘over 50’ cohort. I get great pleasure in seeing the vast improvements in the health, well-being and vibrancy of my clients. Whatever your goals, we can work together to achieve a sustainable solution, a better tomorrow!
Paul Burgess – Watford
As I am approaching 50 myself, bringing fitness to our generation is my passion. With my Advanced Personal Trainer and Level 4 Clinical Nutritionist qualifications, plus my Diploma in Anti-ageing, I am able to keep us all young at heart! I also deal with many clients with auto immune and inflammatory disease which I have huge success in treating naturally.
Kelvin Cornish – Cheltenham
At the age of 57 (2017) I decided to turn my hobby into a late change of career and am now a qualified L3 Personal Trainer. I have always been into fitness but as we age it is not easy to continue and we need more motivation. I concentrate on the over 50s because I can relate to similar problems of this age group. I want to be a role model to older people and encourage.
Kayleigh Iliffe – Derbyshire
My husband and I jointly own a gym in Melbourne, Derbyshire that caters for the needs of all the community nearby. Probably the fittest client here is 62, although we may up that one day! I have a large client base, and some of the not-so-young ones often add some of my classes to the Personal Training – the Zumba class being a favourite around here!
Russell Lee – South Bucks
I’m the founder of ‘Reel Health & Fitness’, based in a private studio near Iver. I am keen to train all ages and abilities, indeed one of my over 50-age Personal Training clients has recently won a UK National Title for fitness modelling. He brought his objectives, I added guidance, knowledge and support, and it worked for him – and I can help you achieve success with your goals too .
Adam Light – Glasgow
I’ve been Personal Training for over 5 years with a Glasgow gym based and ‘mobile’ PT service whereby I bring the tools to you. While my service is structured around posture correction, energy levels and holistic health, for all age ranges, I am proud to say that majority of the over 50’s I’ve had the pleasure to work with have had the best long term results!
Matt Lovett – Maidenhead
I am the co-founder, along with my friend Ross Gray, of aps Fitness, which operates out of a private gym in Maidenhead. We offer a range of Personal Training products, covering most aspects of Health & Fitness for all ages, and believe that with our approach and your commitment, you can live each day being the person you aspire to be.
I am a mobile Level 3 Personal trainer specialising in over 50 clients. I am also qualified ITEC Swedish massage practitioner. I am 61 myself, and am just as fit as I was when I was in my 30’s. I have always worked out and so
my body is used to exercise; there is no reason why you still can’t be fit and agile well into your 60’s, 70’s and beyond.
As someone who wishes to be able to maintain an active lifestyle long into the future, my aim to help others do the same. By building a stronger, healthier, fitter, more flexible body, you can slow down the effects of ageing. I am a mobile personal trainer, training clients in their own home or outdoors. I focus on injury prevention, improving posture, strength and mobility, many of my clients are over 50.
Rob Richley – Manchester
I`m the founder of robrichleyfitness.co.uk and train all my clients in a private gym based in Manchester City Centre. I`m passionate about all things health and fitness related and had excellent success training all ages and fitness levels, particularly the more mature client. As your personal trainer we will work together to achieve your goals.
I became a personal trainer to learn more about how the body works and how I could train smarter not harder. I’m not affiliated to any gym and do all my sessions in the local park or at a clients home. I deal exclusively with over 50’s as, being one myself, I understand the stresses of an ageing body and how easy it is to get into a rut. I can help!
Jonathon Smith – Aberdeen
As a Sport and Exercise Scientist as well as a PT, I prides myself on applying the latest scientific research to both my own goals and those of my clients, for optimal results. My main areas of focus are biochemistry of nutrition and exercise. I enjoy working with all levels of Personal Training clients. I believe age is just a number!
Back in 2005, I was a 39 year old smoker. I had been fit when I was younger but let my fitness slide for 15 years. I quit smoking and entered the London Triathlon. Fitness is now a major part of my life, going from a hobby to a career. I believe anyone can work towards a healthier lifestyle, regardless of age or ability. I love helping men and women in their 50s and 60s – like me – get into great shape.
Andy Tindale – Southampton and Winchester
On my 53rd birthday, I weighed in at 19 stone 4lbs. Overweight, and bordering on obese. Now, at 59, I am 13 stone 8lbs and own a ripped physique. I’m REPS Level 3 Qualified (with further qualifications in Advanced Nutrition for Weight Management and Physical Performance) I am focussing (but not to the exclusion of any others) on Over-50 clients, particularly obese or with Type 2 diabetes.
Dan Wynes – Telford
I am probably one of the younger people on this page – but I have a passionate belief in the benefits of a fitness-enhanced lifestyle for all ages, and have existing clients from every age range. I take my own fitness levels very seriously, and I will make it a top priority to help you achieve the goals we agree as being realistic for you.
Chris Zaremba – High Wycombe and London
Last on the page – courtesy or alphabet? I am the founder of Fitness Over Fifty and an Advanced Personal Trainer. I have a range of clients aged from 18 to over 70. I’ve lost a third of my bodyweight in the past ten years, and put on some muscle – and as a result I’ve added years and much quality of life in the process. I now help others make changes along the same route.
